Variety at Work Report for August 2025

August proved to be another busy month for Variety – the Children’s Charity of Jersey, with rising demand for help as families prepared for the new school year. Many requests were received for primary school uniforms, alongside additional support for food and baby essentials. At the request of a Family Support Worker, the charity also funded a specialist disability stroller for a single parent family, helping to ease everyday transportation challenges.

Throughout the summer holidays, Variety has also been working on an important project at Janvrin School, funding much-needed playground improvements. The project, approved earlier this year, has now been completed. An official opening ceremony is planned, which will include the unveiling of a plaque in memory of Elder Statesman David Lapidus, a past Chief Barker and lifelong supporter of Variety Jersey.

In total, during August the charity supported 24 families and 56 children, with assistance amounting to £2,580.61. Over the past 11 months of this financial year, Variety Jersey has provided charitable support to 364 families and 730 children, with donations reaching £99,237.10.
